Silas and the Mountfield Treasure by Trevor Scully
150 years ago, 12lb of twisted yellow metal were caught in a plough on a Mountfield Farm.  Given to the finder as scrap brass, others recognised its true nature and worth – and not with altogether honest intentions!
This is a true story of the dire consequences of greed and dishonest dealings.  Written by Silas’s great-grandson, the story is told using many of the participants’ own words and paints a portrait of life both in Victorian Mountfield and beyond.
