DRAFT MINUTES OF THE KING GEORGE’S FIELD MEETING, HELD ON 11th March 2025
Trust Members present: N. Whines (Chair), J. Giles, M. Hardy, S. O’Sullivan
Club Representatives: P. Edwards, T. Tidmarsh
Mrs. I Marchant (Secretary/Treasurer)
The Trust was saddened to hear from Pete Edwards that the Hastings and St. Leonards Bowmen (The Archers) are disbanding. They can actually trace their beginnings to Queen Elizabeth I, when she visited Hastings and was escorted by a band of local archers.
They have played a major role at the KGF for many years and their help in keeping the field pristine and the many improvements, particularly with the build of the new pavilion has been invaluable and could not have been achieved without them.
They are donating their equipment, much of which is valuable to other archery clubs and hoping that Claverham College, which is setting up an archery club, will also benefit.
We will miss them at the KGF and wish them all very best wishes for the future.
