Whether you are a resident of the civil parish of Mountfield, a local business or are thinking of visiting one of the most beautiful, unspoiled and sparsely populated areas in East Sussex, we hope you will find something of interest here.
The primary purpose of this website is to provide an information resource for those of us fortunate enough to live or work in Mountfield – more particularly, we seek to encourage residents to engage fully in the life of the parish, to make full use of the community facilities and services available, to support community initiatives and, where possible, to buy locally.

mountfield.org.uk generates no revenue and is maintained by the Parish Council solely as a community resource.

  1. Dear Sir/Madam

I am a genealogist and researching a family tree for a client in Australia. What I have uncovered is that I believe a relative of my client was buried in the churchyard of All Saints Mountfield, having been killed in the Hither Green Rail Accident in 1967. The gentleman’s details are James Gordon Melville Turner GC and he died on 5th November 1967. Can you confirm that he is buried in the churchyard, and if possible my client would like a photo of his grave. I hope you can help

    Many thanks
    Mark

    1. Hello Mark – I’ve passed your query to one of our Parish Councillors, who may be able to help you.
      Kind regards
      Irene – Parish Clerk

    2. As far as I am aware, it was intended to inter his ashes in Mountfield churchyard about 10 – 15 years ago, but I don’t think the interment never happened. I think the ashes remained with his widow.

      1. having been speaking to peggy gordon’s widow can confirm that his ashes are interred at mount field tells me that contact has been made and photos sent

Our daughter Nancy and her two small boys Guillaume and Ezra are returning to live in England from August 2022
Nancy is a proffresional woman and is looking to rent a property at least two bedroom in your area. Nancy was educated at Vinehall and we lived in Robertsbirge for 25 years
Nancy is here in England for Easter from the 10th to the 22nd April looking at schools etc
I just was wondering if you have a parish news letter that you could advertise that she is looking for a property , I feel that word of mouth is often better
Nancy will have the correct references and a guarantor etc for the rent
I am also writting to Mountfield Court as I understand there is a property comong up there . Could you please pray for Nancy and her boys as they return to England to make a new life near their family thanks you Janet Brodricvk Ward
