The Messenger Magazine PARTY (and AGM) this Friday

All readers of the Messenger Magazine are warmly invited to the annual party (and AGM), which will be held THIS FRIDAY (30th September) – starting at 7.30pm in Brightling Village Hall.
There will be FREE DRINKS (alcoholic and soft) and nibbles.  This is primarily a social occasion, an opportunity to have a relaxing chat with neighbours and others in Brightling, Dallington, Mountfield and Netherfield.  It is also our AGM (Annual General Meeting) so there will be some brief formalities (very brief, we promise!) including electing the Committee that runs the magazine, and an opportunity to discuss the magazine if you wish and perhaps make suggestions for making it even better.
The Committee hopes that as many people as possible will come.  It’s an opportunity to show your support for the magazine or tell us what could make it better – or just a relaxing evening with a glass of wine or something.
Hope to see you on Friday.

Eucharist with special intention for Queen Elizabeth II

There will be a Eucharist with special intention for Queen Elizabeth at 10am on the 18th September at All Saints, Mountfield.  The service will follow our normal format, but the readings are recommended to us as being favourites of our late Queen.  There will also be prayers for the Royal Family and King Charles III.  We will sing two verses of God save the King at the end of the service.

Water outage Mountfield

I don’t live in Mountfield and have just heard today that many properties have no water.  I’ve contacted South East Water and the outage is due to burst water pipes.
Bottled water is available at the station at Corner Farm Close, Flimwell, Ticehurst TN5 7FE and it is open until 9pm.
South East Water will deliver bottled water to the elderly and vulnerable if water has not been available for two mealtimes.  Their number is 0333 0000001.
You can get updates on the situation by going to the link below.

The teams will be one from Mountfield Cricket Club and the other eleven made up of Mountfield residents and neighbouring villages. If you would like to play, please contact Tom Tidmarsh on – tomtidmarsh@outlook.com

The emphasis will be on fun, so we do hope you will come along and join us. The Parish Council will be offering wine, beer and soft drinks to all who attend – so bring a picnic with you and enjoy the best of village cricket (20/30 overs) in a beautiful setting.

After the main match, there will be an opportunity for local youngsters to play “short-cricket” with expert coaches on hand to advise. Bats and balls will be provided or bring your own.
