A choir for carers and friends

A new choir is starting in Robertsbridge, led by Sheila Brazier, a local resident who has many years of experience successfully conducting choirs of every description.

The idea is a choir for carers, who as we all know can get very down, lonely and isolated, and can even begin to feel that their entire identity is disappearing.  When you’re singing in a choir, apart from the fact that it’s physically good for you, you really can’t be worrying about anything else, and it’s a great source of social contact.  How much better to go home with your brain buzzing with the latest song, rather than the latest hospital appointment or prescription!

Other people who are interested but not officially “carers” might like to become involved: maybe you have a friend who you feel might come along if you dragged them.  Or maybe you could help out and step in at home so that they would be able to take a break.

The choir will meet at the Robertsbridge Club, Station Road in the middle of Robertsbridge, on Monday afternoons from 2 – 3 p.m. starting in mid-March.  There will be a minimal charge of one or two pounds on a “pay-as-you-go” basis.  People don’t necessarily have to read music and very definitely don’t have to audition.

So if you fancy having a go at folk, pop, world music, gospel, sea shanties, in fact everything under the sun, contact Sheila on 01580 880 740 or brianandsheilab@googlemail.com
