A21 Roadworks 25.05.20-27.06.20

We have been advised that Osbourne, on behalf of Highways England, will be carrying out resurfacing to address carriageway defects in the Robertsbridge area.  The works will include the resurfacing of defective areas, new road markings and stud replacement.
In order to carry out these works as efficiently and safely as possible, work will be carried out overnight between 8pm and 6am, utilising both full south and northbound carriageway closures on the A21.  The works will be carried out between Thursday 25.06.20 and Saturday 27.06.20, with Sunday 28.06.20 held as a contingency and are weather dependent.

Emergency vehicles will always be provided with access through the works.
Local traffic can access the A21 up to the individual closure points and residents with access only off A21 will be escorted through the works.
Please note that the dates are subject to last minute changes due to the current situation with the Covid-19 pandemic.

Diversions

Clearly signed and symbolised diversion routes will be in operation during this closure for through traffic and for local traffic.
Through traffic
Southbound –
southbound traffic on the A21 will be diverted off the A21 at Flimwell Crossroads on the the eastbound A268, before joining the A28.  Traffic will then continue on the A28 to re-join the A21 at Baldslow.
Northbound – northbound traffic will leave the A21 at Baldslow and join the A28, before joining the west bound A268.  Traffic will then continue on the A268 to re-join the A21 at Flimwell.
Local traffic
Southbound
– local traffic heading southbound looking to get to the Vinehall and Whatlington areas, should use the diversion route as stated above and access to residents only will be provided at Baldslow.  Please note that this will only be available for residents with access only off the A21.
Northbound – local traffic heading northbound from Hastings can access the A21 up to the individual closure points and residents with access only off the A21 will be escorted through the works.

Traffic leaving their properties during working hours will be escorted either to the northern or southern end of the closure, depending on which is closest, and will use the main through traffic diversion routes listed above to continue their onward journeys.  Please note that any southbound traffic leaving Robertsbridge will be diverted off the A21 and onto the A2100 and The Ridge, due to other works being carried out on the A21 in the Whatlington area.  A hard closure will be in place on the A21 at the John’s Cross roundabout, Vinehall Street and Marley Lane, with gated access for residents only, there will be no through traffic permitted here.

Residents in the John’s Cross to Whatlington area, who previously received a letter about A21 John’s Cross to Whatlington – please note the changes to access on 25/26/28.06.20.  This will not affect your access at any other point during our ongoing works between John’s Cross and Whatlington.

A2100 repairs update 1

I have just heard that the repairs/resurfacing to the A2100 (John’s Cross to level crossing) will now not take place until Summer 2020, due to road space issues.
Many thanks to all who emailed me with their comments, regarding storm water/heavy rain etc., and the actions that should take place to contain this.  I’ve passed your comments (with redacted personal details) to ESCC Highways.

A2100 – STATE OF THE ROAD FROM JOHN’S CROSS TO THE LEVEL CROSSING

There is light at the end of a very long tunnel – I have just received an email from ESCC Highways that says “I am pleased to inform you that plans have been put into place to refurbish this section of the carriageway.  Some parts are to be completely re-constructed, other parts resurfaced.  This work is planned for April, but not yet finalised as checks need to be made into road space, i.e. any other planned roadworks by utility companies etc.”
I’ll keep you all up-to-date as I get further information.
