8.4 To thank Mr. Harding for the constructive and positive manner in which he conducted the internal auditor for MPC 2022-23 and to appoint him as MPC’s internal auditor for 2023-24.

9. Open Forum

9.1 County Council report (ESCC) – Councillor K. Field

9.2 District Council report (RDC) – Councillor E. Kirby-Green

9.3 Public Question Time – to receive any questions from members of the public on items on this agenda.

10. New fencing for playground

The Clerk and Councillor Whines are to meet in the playground to finalise the scope and type of the new fencing required. Further quotes will then be obtained.

11. Reserves – CIL payment (£4,468) and SE Water Payment (£7,000)

The decisions on how to best spend these funds for the benefit of the Mountfield community will be deferred until the July and September meetings.

12. Recording of MPC meetings

To consider the benefits of recording all MPC meetings in the future and the purchase of a recorder.

13. Matters outstanding from previous meetings

  • MPC’s response to the Levelling-up and Regeneration Bill consultation: reforms to the National Planning Policy, Welcome Packs and the MPC Resilience Policy, to be discussed.

14. Planning

14.1 No planning applications for consideration.

15. Enforcement

15.1 No Mountfield items on RDC’s most recent enforcement list.

16. Highways/Rights of Way

16.1 To discuss the proposed speed limit changes to the A21 (John’s Cross) by Highways England and any MPC response/action.

16.2 Any other Highways/RoW matters for discussion.

Mountfield Parish Council have a vacancy for a Councillor due to the resignation of Nick Randle.
We hope to co-opt a new Councillor at our meeting on 8th November 2022.

Jubilee Cricket Match 2022

Mountfield’s first Jubilee Cricket Match was held on Sunday 7th August.  A great time was had by all and the weather was glorious.
The Mountfield Village Team won by 1 run with 1 ball remaining on 168 for 7, replying to 167-9 by Mountfield Cricket Club.  The winning run was hit by Tom Tidmarsh.
The Village Team was ably supported by Tony Manion and family – Ed, James, Billy, Albert and George.
We hope to make this an annual event, looking forward to Summer 2023!

Jubilee Cricket Match at King George’s Field on 7th August at 1pm

THE MOUNTFIELD JUBILEE CRICKET MATCH AT KING GEORGE’S FIELD

Come and join us on Sunday 7th August at 1pm for the first Mountfield Jubilee Cricket Match (we hope to make this an annual event).

This is part of Mountfield’s celebration of HM The Queen’s Jubilee Year, and the winners will be presented with the Mountfield Jubilee Cup!

The teams will be one from Mountfield Cricket Club and the other eleven made up of Mountfield residents and neighbouring villages. If you would like to play, please contact Tom Tidmarsh on – tomtidmarsh@outlook.com

The emphasis will be on fun, so we do hope you will come along and join us. The Parish Council will be offering wine, beer and soft drinks to all who attend – so bring a picnic with you and enjoy the best of village cricket (20/30 overs) in a beautiful setting.

After the main match, there will be an opportunity for local youngsters to play “short-cricket” with expert coaches on hand to advise. Bats and balls will be provided or bring your own.

The Federation of Astronomical Societies (FAS) has let us know about this new YouTube Astro Show.
Space Oddities is a weekly live panel show featuring an international panel of experts and enthusiasts that streams to YouTube at 8pm UK time on Monday evenings.  The panel is made up of people who where regular members on Astro Radio’s Reach Out and Touch Space show.
Now that Astro Radio is off air, we have created this new show which covers space and astronomy news, upcoming astronomical events and much more.  Our panel has a diverse range of specialist areas, so if you have a question, you can post it in the live chat during the show.
